Sensex down 327pts; Cipla soars 5%

The Sensex is now down 327 points at 17,407.

The NSE Nifty is down 69 points at 5,123.

Bajaj Auto has plunged nearly 5% to Rs 2,294, and Satyam has tumbled 3.6% to Rs 442.

Infosys and HDFC Bank have plunged over 3% each to Rs 1,578 and Rs 1,495, respectively.

ICICI Bank, TCS and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped 3% each to Rs 1,110, Rs 891 and Rs 623, respectively.

Reliance has shed 2.8% at Rs 2,432. HDFC and Hindustan Unilever have slipped 2.5% each to Rs 2,580 and Rs 214, respectively.

Reliance Energy, Tata Motors and Wipro have declined 2.3% each to Rs 1,557, Rs 692 and Rs 422, respectively.

SBI and Bharti Airtel are down 2% each at Rs 2,134 and Rs 851, respectively.

Cipla has soared 4.7% to Rs 197. Hindalco is up 1.4% at Rs 192.

Out of 2,624 stocks traded so far, 1,592 have declined, 949 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
