Sensex down 33pts; NTPC surges 3%

 Cipla has rallied 2% to Rs 250. Hindalco and Ranbaxy have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 178 and Rs 403, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Reliance Energy are up over 1% each to Rs 443 and Rs 508, respectively.

Wipro and Tata Motors have shed over 2% each to Rs 636 and Rs 908, respectively.

Satyam and ITC have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 468 and Rs 176, respectively.

Maruti and TCS have slipped 1.3% each to Rs 932 and Rs 1,297, respectively. ICICI Bank and Infosys were down 1% each at Rs 976 and Rs 2,220, respectively.

Out of 2,488 stocks traded so far, 1,438 have advanced, 981 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
