Sensex down 340pts; no gainers in index

The Sensex is now down 340 points at 14,199.

There is not a single gainer among the index stocks.

Hindalco has plunged 12.7% to Rs 151. Reliance Energy has shed 5.5% to Rs 525.

Reliance Communications has slipped over 5% to Rs 451. ICICI Bank has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 954, and Larsen & Toubro has shed 3.6% to Rs 1,654.

Ranbaxy and BHEL are down over 3% each to Rs 403 and Rs 2,425, respectively.

Tata Motors, Gujarat Ambuja and Grasim have declined nearly 3% each to Rs 880, Rs 135 and Rs 2,750, respectively.

Out of 2,494 stocks traded so far, 2,226 have declined, 245 have advanced and 23 are unchanged.
