Sensex down 341pts, track global fall

The Sensex tumbled to a low of 15,396. The index is now down 341 points at 15,435.

The steep fall is on account of a sell-off in the global markets. The Nikkei has slumped 363 points to 17,339. The Hang Seng has shed 429 points to 22,783.

Hindalco, BHEL, Reliance Energy and Tata Motors have plunged over 3% each to Rs 177, Rs 1,700, Rs 776 and Rs 709, respectively.

Ranbaxy and Infosys have shed 2.5% to Rs 364 and Rs 1,987, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Grasim, Tata Steel and Maruti are down around 2% each to Rs 200, Rs 2,901, Rs 690 and Rs 825, respectively.
