Sensex down 34pts; SBI up over 2%

The Sensex is down 34 points at 10,210.

SBI has rallied 2.4% to Rs 874. Gujarat Ambuja (Rs 86), Larsen & Toubro (Rs 2,331) and Grasim (Rs 1,658) have gained 1.5% each.

Tata Steel is up 1.2% at Rs 424.

Dr.Reddy's and HLL have slipped 2.4% each to Rs 1,330 and Rs 242, repectively. Hero Honda has declined 2% to Rs 891.

ITC, ONGC, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Bank, Satyam, Cipla, Bharti, Infosys and HDFC are the prominent losers among Sensex stocks.

The market breadth is slightly negative. Out of 2,492 stocks traded so far, 1,371 have declined, 1,044 have advanced and 77 are unmoved.

IFCI has soared 8.5% to Rs 11.84. IL&FS Investment, Naveneet Publications, Gateway, Canara Bank, Bank of India, Andhra Bank, Godrej Consumers, Exide, Bharat Electricals, FACT, Bank of Baroda and HMT have posted smart gains.

Gujarat Gas has plunged over 6% to Rs 1,369. Goodricke, Maharashtra Scooters, ABG Heavy, KLG Systel, SKF India, Alfa Laval, National Fertilisers and Zee have declined 2-6% each.
