Sensex down 376pts; BHEL sheds 5%

The Sensex is now down 376 points at 17,622.

Reliance Energy has slumped 8% to Rs 1,466. BHEL has plunged 5% to Rs 2,075.

Maruti and Bharti Airtel have tumbled 4.5% each to Rs 1,095 and Rs 974, respectively.

ICICI Bank has shed 2.7% to Rs 1,011. ACC has dropped 2.5% to Rs 1,010.

Reliance, HDFC, Grasim, Tata Steel, Hindalco and ITC have slipped around 2% each to Rs 2,520, Rs 2,397, Rs 3,518, Rs 820, Rs 183 and Rs 180, respectively.

Ambuja Cements, Cipla, Larsen & Toubro and Hindustan Unilever are down around 1.5% each at Rs 143, Rs 180, Rs 3,107 and Rs 207, respectively.

Reliance Communications has gained 3.3% at Rs 735. Infosys is up over 1% at Rs 1,910.

Out of 2,458 stocks traded so far, 1,849 have declined, 561 have advanced and 48 are unchanged.
