Sensex down 37pts; HDFC Bank up 2.5%

The Sensex opened marginally higher at 11,978, and soon slipped into the negative zone. The index dropped to a low of 11,906.

The index is now down 37 points at 11,936.

HDFC Bank has advanced 2.5% to Rs 886. Grasim and Larsen & Toubro have added 1% each to Rs 2,419 and Rs 2,563, respectively.

Hindalco has shed 2% to Rs 168. Bajaj Auto, Reliance Communications and Wipro dropped over 1% each to Rs 2,789, Rs 320 and Rs 509, respectively.

Infosys, ITC, TCS, ICICI Bank and HLL are the other prominent losers.
