Sensex down 390pts; ICICI, HDFC Bank shed 5%

The Sensex is now down 390 points at 13,157.

Ranbaxy has slumped over 7% to Rs 275. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have plunged 4.8% each to Rs 567 and Rs 1,236, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Sterlite and Hindalco have tumbled around 4.5% each to Rs 533, Rs 456 and Rs 100, respectively.

BHEL, Reliance Communications and DLF have dropped 4.3% each to Rs 1,562, Rs 350 and Rs 373, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has slipped nearly 4% to Rs 2,467. Tata Motors, SBI, HDFC and Reliance Infrastructure have declined around 3.5% each to Rs 370, Rs 1,439, Rs 2,090 and Rs 847, respectively.

 

Infosys and ONGC have shed 3.3% each at Rs 1,455 and Rs 1,036, respectively.

Tata Steel, Maruti and Grasim are down nearly 3% each to Rs 471, Rs 684 and Rs 1,815, respectively.

ITC has surged 2.5% to Rs 193, and Hindustan Unilever has advanced over 1% to Rs 253.

Out of 2,618 stocks traded so far, 2,068 have declined, 482 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
