Sensex down 406pts; breadth fairly -ve

The Sensex is now down 406 points at 12,577.

Wipro and ICICI Bank have shed 4.5% each to Rs 556 and Rs 839, respectively. BHEL has plunged 4.3% to Rs 2,028.

Tata Motors, Infosys and ITC have slumped nearly 4% each to Rs 743, Rs 2,024 and Rs 143, respectively.

ONGC, Tata Steel, HLL and TCS have dopped 3.3% each to Rs 780, Rs 430, Rs 175 and Rs 1,223, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja and Bajaj Auto are the only two gainers among the index.

Out of 2,490 stocks traded so far, 1,769 have declined, 669 have advanced and 52 are unchanged.
