Sensex down 406pts; Rel Com declines 4%

The Sensex is now down 406 points at 17,670.

The NSE Nifty is down 128 points at 5,153.

BHEL and Tata Motors have slumped 4.5% each to Rs 2,125 and Rs 706, respectively.

Reliance Communications has tumbled 3.7% to Rs 583. ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever have plunged 3.5% each to Rs 1,176 and Rs 213, respectively.

NTPC, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel and SBI have slipped around 3% each to Rs 198, Rs 787, Rs 861 and Rs 2,198, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Maruti and DLF are down 2.7% each to Rs 1,525, Rs 785 and Rs 820, respectively.

Satyam has advanced 1.5% to Rs 428, and TCS has added 1.3% to Rs 886.

Out of 2,667 stocks traded so far, 1,925 have declined, 689 have advanced and 53 are unchanged.
