Sensex down 40pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex is now down 40 points at 14,468.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has soared 7% to Rs 1,987.

HDFC has advanced 1.6% to Rs 1,843, and Bajaj Auto has rallied 1.4% to Rs 2,225.

NTPC and SBI are up around 1% each at Rs 163 and Rs 1,335, respectively.

HDFC Bank has shed 2.6% to Rs 1,116.

Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and Hindalco have slipped over 2% each to Rs 543, Rs 510 and Rs 141, respectively.

ITC and Infosys have dropped 1.7% each to Rs 162 and Rs 1,920, respectively. HLL has declined 1.5% to Rs 200.

Maruti, Wipro and Satyam are down over 1% each to Rs 810, Rs 533 and Rs 467, respectively.

Out of 2,604 stocks traded so far, 1,450 have declined, 1,069 have advanced and 85 are unchanged.
