Sensex down 410pts; breadth -ve

The Sensex is now down 410 points at 17,665.

The NSE Nifty is down 124 points at 5,156.

BHEL has slumped 4.4% to Rs 2,127, and Tata Motors has tumbled over 4% to Rs 708.

Reliance Communications, Hindustan Unilever and Tata Steel have plunged around 3.5% each to Rs 584, Rs 213 and Rs 784, respectively.

NTPC and ICICI Bank have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 198 and Rs 1,178, respectively.

DLF, Maruti and Bharti Airtel have shed 2.7% each at Rs 819, Rs 785 and Rs 863, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, HDFC and SBI are down around 2.5% each to Rs 3,460, Rs 2,785 and Rs 2,206, respectively.

Satyam and TCS have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 428 and Rs 887, respectively.

Out of 2,701 stocks traded so far, 1,978 have declined, 673 have advanced and 50 are unchanged.
