Sensex down 414pts; breadth extremely -ve

The Sensex is now down 414 points at 18,600.

Satyam and Larsen & Toubro have slumped 4% each to Rs 357 and Rs 3,774, respectively.

DLF and Reliance Communicaitons have plunged 3.5% each to Rs 970 and Rs 978, respectively.

Wipro and HDFC Bank have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 440 and Rs 1,524, respectively.

Cipla, Mahindra & Mahindra and ICICI Bank have slipped over 3% each to Rs 196, Rs 705 and Rs 1,206, respectively.

Maruti and Tata Motors have also slipped around 3% each to Rs 815 and Rs 692, respectively.

NTPC and ITC have shed 2.7% each to Rs 233 and Rs 207, respectively.

Infosys and Grasim have declined 2.5% each to Rs 1,428 and Rs 3,260, respectively.

ONGC, ACC and Hindalco are down 2.3% each at Rs 1,181, Rs 845 and Rs 181, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 2,610 stocks traded so far, 2,324 have declined, 269 have advanced and 17 are unchanged.
