Sensex down 417pts; breadth marginally +ve

The Sensex is now down 417 points at 15,954.

The NSE Nifty is down 112 points at 4,830.

Infosys has slumped over 6% to Rs 1,431. Grasim has plunged 5% to Rs 2,569.

HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have tumbled 4.5% each to Rs 1,337 and Rs 798, respectively.

Satyam has dropped 4.3% to Rs 391, and BHEL has shed 4% at Rs 2,007.

TCS and Larsen & Toubro have slipped around 3.5% each to Rs 838 and Rs 3,038, respectively.

SBI and HDFC have declined 3% each to Rs 1,629 and Rs 2,537, respectively.

DLF and Jaiprakash Associates are down 2.8% each at Rs 676 and Rs 234, respectively.

Cipla has moved up 1.6% to Rs 221.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,302 stocks traded so far, 1,297 have advanced, 958 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
