Sensex down 439pts; Tata Steel drops 5%

The Sensex is now down 439 points at 17,636.

The NSE Nifty is down 120 points at 5,160.

Tata Steel has slumped 4.8% to Rs 774. BHEL and Maruti have plunged 4.5% each to Rs 2,125 and Rs 771, respectively.

Tata Motors has tumbled over 4% to Rs 707. ICICI Bank and Hindustan Unilever have slipped nearly 4% each to Rs 1,171 and Rs 2,753, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Energy and Reliance Communications have dropped around 3.5% each to Rs 213, Rs 635, Rs 1,566 and Rs 585, respectively.

NTPC and DLF have declined over 3% each to Rs 198 and Rs 815, respectively. ACC is down nearly 3% at Rs 767.

TCS is up over 1% at Rs 885.

Out of 2,768 stocks traded so far, 2,040 have declined, 670 have advanced and 58 are unchanged.
