Sensex down 43pts; Rel Energy zooms 13%

The Sensex is now down 43 points at 17,248.

Reliance Energy has zoomed 12.7% to Rs 1,359. NTPC has soared 5% to Rs 203.

Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 2.5% to Rs 770. Ambuja Cements, Dr.Reddy's and Reliance Communications have surged 2% each to Rs 147, Rs 662 and Rs 597, respectively.

ONGC has moved up 1.8% to Rs 975. Cipla has advanced 1.5% to Rs 185, and Hindalco has added 1% to Rs 174.

TCS and Wipro have plunged 2.7% each to Rs 1,029 and Rs 448, respectively.

SBI and ITC have dropped around 2% each to Rs 1,912 and Rs 186, respectively.

ICICI Bank and HDFC have shed 1.7% each to Rs 1,045 and Rs 2,485, respectively.

HDFC Bank, BHEL, Satyam and Maruti are down around 1.5% each at Rs 1,417, Rs 2,002, Rs 437 and Rs 985, respectively.

Out of 2,678 stocks traded so far, 1,567 have advanced, 1,053 have declined and 58 are unchanged.
