Sensex down 44pts; Bombay Dyeing zooms 11%

The Sensex is now down 44 points at 11,987.

ONGC has surged over 2% to Rs 1,368. Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel and Hindalco are also trading with smart gains.

HDFC Bank has dropped 3.6% to Rs 819. ICICI Bank has slipped over 2.3% to Rs 576. SBI is down 1.3% at Rs 909.

Satyam and Wipro have tumbled over 3% each to Rs 782 and Rs 531, respectively. While Infosys has slipped 1.4% to Rs 3,250, TCS is down 1% at Rs 1,973.

Out of 2,431 stocks traded so far, 1,424 have advanced, 948 have declined and 59 are unchanged.

Bombay Dyeing has zoomed over 11% to Rs 678. Finolex Industries, Sterlite Optical, FACT, CMC, Tata Elxsi, CESC and Container Corporation are the other major gainers.

Ispat Industries has dropped nearly 5% to Rs 20.30. Wockhardt, Sun Pharma, Kotak Bank, VSNL, Andhra Bank, Reliance Communication Ventures, GMDC, i-flex and IOC are the other prominent losers.
