The Sensex is now down 44 points at 9,603.
Ranbaxy has slumped 4.7% to Rs 222. Tata Steel and Reliance Infrastructure have plunged nearly 4% each to Rs 190 and Rs 541, respectively.
Grasim has shed 3.3% at Rs 1,370. Tata Motors, TCS, Sun Pharma and Sterlite have slipped around 2% each to Rs 136, Rs 514, Rs 1,097 and Rs 273, respectively.
Wipro, ONGC, Reliance and HDFC Bank are down around 1.5% each.
Maruti has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 625, and Jaiprakash Associates has added 2.5% to Rs 77.
ACC, Tata Power and Bharti Airtel have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 553, Rs 805 and Rs 672, respectively.
ICICI Bank and Reliance Communications are up 1% each at Rs 434 and Rs 173, respectively.
The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,439 stocks traded so far, 1,188 have declined, 1,146 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
