Sensex down 45pts; Hindalco drops 4%

The Sensex is now down 45 points at 14,598.

Hindalco has plunged 3.8% to Rs 175. Bajaj Auto has shed 2.5% to Rs 3,006.

Reliance Communications, Larsen & Toubro and Satyam have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 478, Rs 1,719 and Rs 483, respectively.

ITC, Bharti Airtel, HLL, Wipro and Hero Honda are down 1% each at Rs 174, Rs 766, Rs 205, Rs 635 and Rs 726, respectively.

ICICI Bank has advanced 1.5% to Rs 997. BHEL and Reliance Energy are up over 1% each at Rs 2,518 and Rs 566, respectively.

Out of 2,680 stocks traded so far, 1,705 have declined, 920 have advanced and 55 are unchanged.
