Sensex down 466pts; Tata Steel surges 4%

The Sensex is now down 466 points at 17,532.

Reliance Energy has slumped over 14% to Rs 1,365. Maruti and BHEL have plunged around 5% each to Rs 1,088 and Rs 2,075, respectively.

Hindalco has dropped 4.7% to Rs 178. Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped 4% each to Rs 980 and Rs 732, respectively.

ACC and Ambuja Cements have shed 3.5% each to Rs 999 and Rs 140, respectively.

ITC and Reliance are down 3% each at Rs 177 and Rs 2,500, respectively.

Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have surged nearly 4% each to Rs 868 and Rs 738, respectively.

Bajaj Auto has advanced over 2% to Rs 2,514, and ONGC has gained 1.5% at Rs 1,110.

Infosys is up over 1% at Rs 1,912.

Out of 2,726 stocks traded so far, 2,123 have declined, 562 have advanced and 41 are unchanged.
