Sensex down 469pts; BHEL drops 6%

The Sensex is now down 469 points at 15,307.

Reliance Communications and BHEL have tumbled nearly 6% each to Rs 537 and Rs 1,654, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Tata Steel have slumped 5% each to Rs 1,157 and Rs 669, respectively. HDFC has plunged 4.8% to Rs 1,925.

Larsen & Toubro and SBI have dropped 4.5% each to Rs 2,428 and Rs 1,483, respectively.

Reliance Energy and Hindalco are down over 4% each to Rs 767 and Rs 175, respectively.

Reliance is down 3.3% at Rs 1,877.

NTPC, Hindustan Unilever, Satyam, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, ACC, ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra and Grasim are the other major losers.

ITC has moved up 2.6% to Rs 171. Ranbaxy has gained 1.6% at Rs 379.

Out of 2,428 stocks traded so far, 1,964 have declined, 423 have advanced and 41 are unchanged.
