Sensex down 469pts; SBI, BHEL weak

The Sensex is now down 469 points at 17,109.

The NSE Nifty is down 156 points at 5,068.

BHEL and SBI have slumped 4.5% each to Rs 2,178 and Rs 2,014, respectively.

ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel have plunged 4% each to Rs 1,047 and Rs 792, respectively. Wipro has tumbled 3.7% to Rs 419.

ITC has shed 3.5% at Rs 195. Reliance, Infosys and Ambuja Cements have dropped over 3% each to Rs 2,380, Rs 1,500 and Rs 117, respectively.

HDFC, NTPC and Reliance Communications have slipped nearly 3% each to Rs 2,721, Rs 196 and Rs 558, respectively.

Maruti has surged 3.5% to Rs 897. Hindustan Unilever and Cipla have gained 2.5% each at Rs 233 and Rs 212, respectively.

Ranbaxy has moved up 1.5% to Rs 452, and Mahindra & Mahindra has added 1.3% to Rs 702.
