Sensex down 470pts; Grasim, HLL slump

The Sensex tumbled to a low of 9201 - down 556 points from its previous close. The index is now down 470 points at 9287.

There is not a single gainer among the Sensex stocks.

Grasim has crashed over 9% to Rs 1,488. HLL has slumped 8% to Rs 203.

Reliance and Reliance Energy have tumbled over 7% each to Rs 832 and Rs 375, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja, Tata Steel and HDFC have pluned around 6.5% each to Rs 82.50, Rs 431 and Rs 1,090, respectively.

Cipla, ITC and ONGC have declined nearly 6% each to Rs 199, Rs 143 and Rs 936, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely negative - 95.5% of the traded stocks on the BSE are in negative zone. Out of a total of 1,999 stocks traded so far, 1,908 have declined, 78 have advanced and 13 are unchanged.
