Sensex down 473pts; breadth extremely -ve

The Sensex is now down 473 points at 19,778.

The NSE Nifty is down 166 points at 5,908.

HDFC Bank has tumbled 7% to Rs 1,662, and Reliance Communications has plunged nearly 6% to Rs 732.

Tata Steel has shed 5% at Rs 809. BHEL, Hindalco and NTPC have slumped around 4.5% each to Rs 2,304, Rs 189 and Rs 262, respectively.

ITC, Reliance Energy and DLF have dropped around 4% each to Rs 207, Rs 2,269 and Rs 1,131, respectively.

Tata Motors and Maruti have slipped 3.5% each to Rs 742 and Rs 838, respectively.

HDFC and Reliance have declined nearly 3% each to Rs 2,821 and Rs 3,075, respectively.

TCS has rallied 2% to Rs 957.

The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 2,733 stocks traded so far, 2,245 have declined, 458 have advanced and 30 are unchanged.
