Sensex down 48pts; Tata Steel up 2%

The Sensex is now down 48 points at 13,001.

BHEL has shed 4% to Rs 2,088. Dr.Reddy's has slipped over 2% to Rs 662.

Cipla has dropped 1.8% to Rs 232. Satyam, Tata Motors and ITC have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 439, Rs 760 and Rs 158, respectively.

Reliance Communications and Wipro were down over 1% each to Rs 429 and Rs 570, respectively.

Tata Steel has surged 2% to Rs 436. NTPC and Grasim have gained 1.7% each at Rs 138 and Rs 2,272, respectively.

HLL has advanced 1% to Rs 186.

Out of 2,311 stocks traded so far, 1,179 have advanced, 1,071 have declined and 61 are unchanged.
