Sensex down 49pts; Hindalco, Tata Mot gain 2.5%

The Sensex is now down 49 points at 9835.

Hindalco and Tata Motors have surged over 2.5% each to Rs 160 and Rs 744, respectively. Maruti has rallied 1.6% to Rs 739, and Cipla has spurted 1% to Rs 213.

Larsen & Toubro has dropped over 4% to Rs 2,028.

Wipro, TCS and Bajaj Auto have declined over 2% each to Rs 430, Rs 1,649 and Rs 2,596, respectively.

Gujarat Ambuja, Satyam and ONGC are down nearly 2% each to Rs 90, Rs 659 and Rs 994, respectively.

Out of 1,852 stocks traded so far, 963 have declined, 840 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
