Sensex down 5 pts; ITC, auto stocks rally

The market, though marginally weak, has recovered from most of its early noon losses following fresh spell of buying in heavyweights, auto and other select old economy stocks.

The Sensex, which is now above the 7,300 levels, is now down five points at 7,302. The Nifty is flat at 2,219.

ITC has soared 3.85% (Rs 66) to Rs 1,770. While ONGC has added 1.42% (Rs 13) to Rs 938, Reliance is still up with a per cent gain (Rs 4) at Rs 636. HLL is up a rupee at Rs 159.

ICICI Bank has notched up 2.67% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 465. HDFC Bank (down Rs 6 to Rs 658) is still trading at lower levels.

Tata Motors has soared 4.55% (Rs 20) to Rs 469. While Maruti has moved up 2.73% (Rs 12) to Rs 459, Hero Honda has gained 2% (Rs 12) to Rs 603. Bajaj, however, is still trading a per cent lower (Rs 13) at Rs 1,385.

Infosys has tanked 4.16% (Rs 96) to Rs 2,219. While TCS has dropped 3.10% (Rs 41) to Rs 1,286, Wipro has lost 1.95% (Rs 14) to Rs 702. Satyam is down a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 495.

Dr. Reddy's has tumbled 2.94% (Rs 23) to Rs 757. Cipla has gained 1.94% (Rs 6) to Rs 325.

HDFC has shed 3.17% (Rs 29) to Rs 900, and L&T has lost 2% (Rs 25) to Rs 1,221.
