Sensex down 518pts; Bharti, Wipro slip 5%

The Sensex is now down 518 points at 18,145.

The NSE Nifty is down 162 points at 5,322.

Bharti Airtel and Wipro have slumped around 5% each to Rs 888 and Rs 432, respectively. Infosys has tumbled 4.8% to Rs 1,534.

Tata Motors and Satyam have plunged around 4.5% each to Rs 722 and Rs 419, respectively.

HDFC and TCS have dropped around 4% each to Rs 2,940 and Rs 912, respectively.

Hindalco, DLF and Grasim have shed around 3.5% each at Rs 175, Rs 858 and Rs 2,875, respectively.

ONGC, Ranbaxy, Maruti and Tata Steel are down over 3% each at Rs 1,040, Rs 375, Rs 845 and Rs 793, respectively.
