Sensex down 52pts; Hindalco surges 4%

The Sensex opened 51 points lower at 8,951, and then slipped to a low of 8,895. The index is now down 52 points at 8,949.

Larsen & Toubro has slumped 3.7% to Rs 587, and DLF has tumbled 3.5% to Rs 167.

ICICI Bank has shed 3% at Rs 328. Bharti Airtel has dropped over 2% to Rs 559.

Reliance Communications and SBI have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 154 and Rs 951, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure have declined 1.5% each to Rs 79 and Rs 478, respectively.

Hindalco has soared over 4% to Rs 47. Tata Steel has surged over 2% to Rs 177.

 

Sterlite and Tata Power are up 1% each at Rs 318 and Rs 669, respectively.
