Sensex down 53pts; BHEL surges 4%

The Sensex is now down 53 points at 19,348.

Infosys has slumped 5% to Rs 1,758. Satyam and Wipro have plunged around 3.5% each to Rs 436 and Rs 471, respectively.

HDFC Bank has dropped 2.4% to Rs 1,665. Dr.Reddy's, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Grasim have slipped 2% each to Rs 600, Rs 899, Rs 730 and Rs 3,580, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, TCS and Hindalco have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 192, Rs 990 and Rs 189, respectively.

Reliance Energy and ICICI Bank are down 1% each at Rs 1,825 and Rs 1,228, respectively.

BHEL has soared 3.6% to Rs 2,822. Reliance has surged 2.6% to Rs 2,725.

Ambuja Cements has rallied 2% to Rs 147. Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 4,196 and Rs 753, respectively.

SBI and Maruti are up 1% each at Rs 2,235 and Rs 983, respectively.

Out of 2,561 stocks traded so far, 1,611 have declined, 878 have advanced and 72 are unchanged.
