Sensex down 545pts; Rel Energy slumps 17%

The Sensex is now down 545 points at 17,453.

Reliance Energy has slumped 17% to Rs 1,319.

Bharti Airtel and Maruti have tumbled nearly 7% each to Rs 950 and Rs 1,071, respectively. BHEL has plunged 6.5% to Rs 2,040.

Hindalco and HDFC have slipped around 5% each to Rs 177 and Rs 2,330, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 4.5% to Rs 728. Reliance is down over 4% at Rs 2,467.

ICICI Bank and ACC have declined 3.7% each to Rs 1,000 and Rs 998, respectively.

Infosys is up over 1% at Rs 1,911.

Out of 2,657 stocks traded so far, 2,218 have declined, 395 have advanced and 44 are unchanged.
