Sensex down 547pts; SBI, ICICI drop 5%

The Sensex is now down 547 points at 17,032.

The NSE Nifty is down 173 points at 5,050.

BHEL has slumped 5.8% to Rs 2,150. SBI and ICICI Bank have plunged nearly 5% each to Rs 2,006 and Rs 1,039, respectively.

Wipro and Bharti Airtel have tumbled over 4% each to Rs 417 and Rs 791, respectively.

Reliance, Infosys and ITC have dropped 3.7% each to Rs 2,368, Rs 1,489 and Rs 195, respectively.

NTPC and Larsen & Toubro have shed 3.5% each at Rs 195 and Rs 3,401, respectively.

Reliance Communications and DLF have slipped 3.3% each to Rs 555 and Rs 755, respectively.

HDFC, TCS and HDFC Bank are down 3% each at Rs 2,715, Rs 848 and Rs 1,410, respectively.

Maruti has surged 4.5% to Rs 907. Ranbaxy has rallied 3.4% to Rs 461.

Cipla has gained 2.5% at Rs 213, and Hindustan Unilever has moved up 1.6% to Rs 231.
