Sensex down 558pts; ITC sheds 8%

The Sensex tumbled to a low of 10,186 - down 601 points. The index is now down 558 points 10,229.

ONGC has slumped 9% to Rs 1,075, and Grasim has shed 8% to Rs 1,725.

ITC has plunged 7.8% to Rs 163. Tata Steel is down nearly 7% at Rs 510.

Hero Honda, ACC and Cipla are down over 6% each.

Out of 2,309 stocks traded so far, 2,090 have declined, 186 have advanced and 33 are unchanged.
