Sensex down 55pts; Educomp, Bartronics zoom

The Sensex is now down 55 points at 9319.

BHEL and Ranbaxy have gained 1.5% each at Rs 1,485 and Rs 391, respectively.

Reliance Energy at Rs 602 and HDFC Bank at Rs 741, are up 1.3% each.

ICICI Bank and Reliance have declined 2% each to Rs 572 and Rs 869, respectively.

Infosys at Rs 2,815, HDFC at Rs 1,169 and TCS at Rs 1,636 are down 1% each.

Newly listed Educomp Solutions and Bartronics are hogging the limelight. While the former has soared over 16% to Rs 332, the latter is up nearly 14% at Rs 128. Mahindra Gesco has surged over 10% to Rs 430.

Ramco System, Welspun Gujarat, Dredging, Alstom Projects, Hindustan Zinc, Bombay Dyeing, Gillette, Century Textiles, Thermax and GE Shipping have also posted substantial gains.

Maharashtra Scooters has slipped over 5% to Rs 357. DCW, Munjal Auto, Punjab Alkalies Chemicals, Container Corporation of India, MTNL, Wyeth, Gail India, Chambal Fertilisers, Castrol, Dena Bank, Canara Bank, Novartis, Neyveli Lignite, Indian Overseas Bank, BEML, Andhra Bank, Union Bank, IPCL and Bank of India are trading in the negative territory.
