Sensex down 55pts; market breadth positive

The Sensex touched a low of 11,837, and is now down 55 points at 11,860.

Satyam has rallied 2.7% to Rs 794. Cipla has spurted 1.4% to Rs 264. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have advanced over 1% each to Rs 831 and Rs 575, respectively.

Hindalco, NTPC, Grasim and Tata Power have dropped 1.4% each to Rs 209, Rs 132, Rs 2,345 and Rs 564, respectively.

ONGC, Bajaj Auto and Tata Steel have slipped over 1% each to Rs 1,332, Rs 2,897 and Rs 646, respectively.

Dr.Reddy's, TCS and HDFC are down nearly 1% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 1,993 stocks traded so far, 1,218 have moved up, 728 have declined and 47 are unchanged.
