Sensex down 56pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex has slipped into the negative zone and is now down 56 points at 16,161.

The NSE Nifty is down 15 points at 4,862.

HDFC has soared 3.5% to Rs 2,680. Tata Steel has surged 2.5% to Rs 650.

ONGC and HDFC Bank have rallied nearly 2% each to Rs 1,096 and Rs 1,445, respectively.

ITC has gained 1.5% at Rs 194. SBI and NTPC are up over 1% each at Rs 1,762 and Rs 202, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and Hindustan Unilever have plunged over 3% each to Rs 807, Rs 658 and Rs 237, respectively.

DLF has shed 2% at Rs 665. ICICI Bank and BHEL have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 867 and Rs 1,986, respectively.

Infosys and Mahindra & Mahindra are down 1% each at Rs 1,478 and Rs 674, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,546 stocks traded so far, 1,734 have advanced, 763 have declined and 49 are unchanged.
