Sensex down 581pts; all index stocks in red

The Sensex is now down 581 points at 15,547.

The NSE Nifty is down 186 points at 4,686.

All Sensex stocks are in negative zone.

Reliance Energy and BHEL have slumped over 7% each to Rs 1,231 and Rs 1,872, respectively.

DLF has tumbled over 6% to Rs 669. Hindalco, Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have plunged around 5.5% each to Rs 181, Rs 725 and Rs 511, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Wipro have dropped over 5% each to Rs 768 and Rs 370, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have shed 4.7% each to Rs 2,801, Rs 839 and Rs 1,305, respectively.

NTPC has dropped 4.5% to Rs 186. Reliance is down 4% at Rs 2,280.

Out of 2,566 stocks traded so far, 2,217 have declined, 324 have advanced and 25 are unchanged.
