Sensex down 583pts; Bharti Airtel slips 6%

The Sensex is now down 583 points at 18,080.

The NSE Nifty is down 186 points at 5,297.

Infosys has slumped 6.5% to Rs 1,506. Bharti Airtel has tumbled nearly 6% to Rs 881.

TCS, Satyam and Wipro have plunged around 5.5% each to Rs 897, Rs 415 and Rs 430, respectively.

Hindalco has slipped over 5% to Rs 172, and Maruti has shed 4.4% at Rs 834.

ONGC and Tata Motors have dropped around 4% each to Rs 1,031 and Rs 726, respectively.

DLF and Ranbaxy have declined 3.5% each to Rs 858 and Rs 373, respectively.

NTPC, Grasim and ICICI Bank are down over 3% each to Rs 216, Rs 2,890 and Rs 1,153, respectively.

Out of 2,739 stocks traded so far, 1,684 have declined, 1,004 have advanced and 51 are unchanged.
