The Sensex is now down 583 points at 12,680.
Jaiprakash Associates has slumped over 10% to Rs 123. Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel have tumbled 7.7% each to Rs 331 and Rs 712, respectively.
BHEL has shed 7% at Rs 1,508. Satyam and Ranbaxy have slipped 6.5% each to Rs 327 and Rs 354, respectively.
DLF and Tata Power have dropped 6% each to Rs 384 and Rs 913, respectively.
TCS, Sterlite and Reliance Infrastructure have declined 5.7% each to Rs 687, Rs 414 and Rs 783, respectively.
Tata Steel is down 5.5% at Rs 449.
