Sensex down 615pts; Satyam surges 5%

The Sensex is now down 615 points at 16,849.

The NSE Nifty is down 188 points at 4,933.

Reliance Energy has slumped 14% to Rs 1,692. HDFC and ONGC has plunged around 6% each to Rs 2,620 and Rs 938, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever and SBI have tumbled around 5.5% each to Rs 608, Rs 200 and Rs 2,071, respectively.

Reliance Communications, HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro have slipped 4.7% each to Rs 615, Rs 1,377 and Rs 3,365, respectively.

Reliance has dropped 4.4% to Rs 2,315. ACC and BHEL are down 4% each at Rs 747 and Rs 1,932, respectively.

Satyam has soared 4.5% to Rs 428. TCS has surged 2% to Rs 918, and Infosys has added 1.5% to Rs 1,575.

 
Maruti has gained 1.5% at Rs 817.

Out of 2,686 stocks traded so far, 2,430 have declined, 225 have advanced and 31 are unchanged.
