Sensex down 616pts; DLF, ONGC drop 5%

The Sensex is now down 616 points at 15,755.

The NSE Nifty is down 170 points at 4,772.

HDFC Bank has tumbled over 7% to Rs 1,300. ICICI Bank and Infosys have plunged 6.7% each to Rs 779 and Rs 1,424, respectively.

HDFC and TCS have slumped 6.3% each to Rs 2,450 and Rs 816, respectively.

Hindalco has shed 5.8% at Rs 165. DLF, ONGC and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped around 5% each to Rs 660, Rs 1,000 and Rs 229, respectively.

Grasim, Reliance Energy and Reliance Communications have dropped around 4.5% each to Rs 2,579, Rs 1,274 and Rs 512, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, BHEL and Satyam have declined over 4% each to Rs 3,013, Rs 2,007 and Rs 392, respectively.

Cipla and Ranbaxy have gaind 1.3% each at Rs 220 and Rs 445, respectively.

Out of 2,573 stocks traded so far, 1,333 have advanced, 1,196 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
