Sensex down 61pts; Tata Steel surges 2%

The Sensex has slipped back deeper into red and is now down 61 points at 15,536.

TCS, Infosys and Wipro have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,030, Rs 1,843 and Rs 460, respectively. Satyam is down 1% at Rs 438.

Tata Motors has shed 1.3% to Rs 694. SBI, Ambuja Cements and Maruti are down around 1% each at Rs 1,625, Rs 143 and Rs 868, respectively.

Tata Steel has surged over 2% to Rs 708. HDFC has advanced 1.4% to Rs 2,134.

Out of 2,733 stocks traded so far, 1,417 have advanced, 1,251 have declined and 65 are unchanged.
