Sensex down 620pts; Maruti rallies 4%

The Sensex is now down 620 points at 16,844.

The NSE Nifty is down 199 points at 4,921.

Reliance Energy has slumped over 12% to Rs 1,725. ONGC has plunged over 6% to Rs 935.

Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra have tumbled around 5.5% each to Rs 3,333 and Rs 610, respectively.

Reliance Communications, SBI and HDFC have slipped around 5% each to Rs 612, Rs 2,079 and Rs 2,660, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has shed 4.5% at Rs 202, and ACC has dropped over 4% to Rs 747.

HDFC Bank and DLF are down 3.7% each at Rs 1,392 and Rs 787, respectively.

Satyam has soared over 6% to Rs 436. TCS has surged nearly 3% to Rs 925, and Infosys has added 1% to Rs 1,567.

Maruti has rallied 4% to Rs 837.

Out of 2,709 stocks traded so far, 2,427 have declined, 251 have advanced and 31 are unchanged.
