Sensex down 625pts; breadth very -ve

The Sensex is now down 625 points at 15,916.

The NSE Nifty is down 177 points at 4,744.

Bajaj Auto and Reliance Energy have slumped 10% each to Rs 1,909 and Rs 1,314, respectively.

ICICI Bank has tumbled over 8% to Rs 882, and Hindalco has shed 6.7% at Rs 194.

Mahindra & Mahindra has plunged 5.5% to Rs 658, and Tata Motors has slipped over 5% to Rs 666.

Ranbaxy and HDFC have dropped 4.7% each to Rs 432 and Rs 2,625, respectively.

Satyam, NTPC and HDFC Bank are down 4.5% each at Rs 414, Rs 186 and Rs 1,277, respectively.

Out of 2,627 stocks traded so far, 2,423 have declined, 179 have advanced and 25 are unchanged.
