Sensex down 62pts; Ranbaxy surges 4%

The Sensex is now down 62 points at 10,214.

Ranbaxy has surged 3.6% to Rs 384. Satyam has spurted over 2% to Rs 700. HDFC Bank has added 2% to Rs 745.

Larsen & Toubro has shed 3.6% to Rs 2,118. HDFC has dropped over 3% to Rs 1,086.

Hero Honda, BHEL and SBI have slipped over 2% each to Rs 754, Rs 1831 and Rs 758, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,396 stocks traded so far, 1,299 have declined, 1,049 have advanced and 48 are unchanged.
