The Sensex opened 74 points lower at 8,841, and is now down 63 points at 8,852.
HDFC Bank has plunged 3.5% to Rs 827. DLF and Sterlite have shed 3% each to Rs 192 and Rs 212, respectively.
Maruti and ICICI Bank have dropped over 2.5% each to Rs 498 and Rs 327, respectively.
Grasim and Bharti Airtel have slipped around 2% each to Rs 914 and Rs 607, respectively.
HDFC has declined 1.7% to Rs 1,375.
