Sensex down 64pts; Rel Infra, Jaiprakash weak

The Sensex opened 138 points lower at 8,889. The index soon rebounded and touched a high of 9,078. The Sensex is now down 64 points at 8,962.

Reliance Infrastructure has slumped 4.3% to Rs 497. Jaiprakash Assocaites has tumbled 3.6% to Rs 55.

Tata Steel has shed 3.3% at Rs 150, and HDFC has dropped 3% to Rs 1,374.

Tata Motors has slipped 2.8% to Rs 136. ICICI Bank and Reliance Communications has declined 2.3% each to Rs 342 and Rs 194, respectively.

Ranbaxy and DLF are down nearly 2% each to Rs 209 and Rs 195, respectively.

ONGC has gained 2% at Rs 715. Sterlite and Grasim have moved up 1.5% each to Rs 235 and Rs 930, respectively.

 

TCS and Infosys have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 534 and Rs 1,203, respectively.
