Sensex down 651pts; JP Associates sheds 10%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 433 points at 15,327, and soon tumbled to a low of 15,088. The index is now down 651 points at 15,110.

The NSE Nifty is down 189 points at 4,557.

Jaiprakash (JP) Associates has plunged nearly 10% to Rs 213. DLF has tumbled over 6% to Rs 614.

ICICI Bank and HDFC have dropped over 5% each to Rs 831 and Rs 2,372, respectively. HDFC Bank has shed 4.3% at Rs 1,259.

Tata Steel, BHEL, Reliance Communications and Hindalco have slipped 4% each to Rs 687, Rs 1,805, Rs 498 and Rs 175, respectively.
