Sensex down 65pts; Maruti soars 4%

The Sensex slipped to a low of 9,166, and is now down 65 points at 9,192. Earlier in the day, the index opened 77 points higher at 9,334, and touched a high of 9,380.

Wipro has plunged nearly 4% to Rs 225.

Ranbaxy and DLF have shed 3.7% each at Rs 206 and Rs 171, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has slumped 3% to Rs 633. Sun Pharma, NTPC and BHEL have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 1,124, Rs 186 and Rs 1,355, respectively.

Reliance Communications has slipped over 2% to Rs 163. ITC and Reliance have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 173 and Rs 1,254, respectively.

 

Maruti has soared nearly 6% to Rs 551. Jaiprakash Associates has surged 4.5% to Rs 69, and Tata Steel has rallied over 4% to Rs 184.

Mahindra & Mahindra has gained over 3% at Rs 293. ICICI Bank has advanced over 2% to Rs 417.

ACC, HDFC and Tata Motors are up around 1% each at Rs 504, Rs 1,522 and Rs 148, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,342 stocks traded so far, 1,232 have declined, 1,008 have advanced and 103 are unchanged.
