Sensex down 65pts; NTPC surges 2%

The Sensex is now down 65 points at 12,389.

HDFC has slipped over 3% to Rs 1,485. Ranbaxy and HLL have dropped over 2% each to Rs 430 and Rs 251, respectively.

Cipla has shed 1.8% to Rs 258. Infosys, Larsen & Toubro and Wipro have declined over 1% each to Rs 1,823, Rs 1,259 and Rs 520, respectively.

NTPC has surged 2% to Rs 133. Bajaj Auto and Tata Motors have gained 1.3% each at Rs 3,040 and Rs 873, respectively.

Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and Hindalco are the other notable gainers.

Out of 2,472 stocks traded so far, 1,426 have advanced, 973 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
